Born January 17th 1964 in Chicago, IL. Her father Frasier Robinson (died 1990) worked as city water plant employee and was a precinct captain for the Democratic party. Her mother Marian Robinson worked as a secretary for Spiegel's catalog store. She grew up in the south shore region of Chicago where she graduated from Witney Young High School in 1981.
Michelle Obama then went on to attend Princeton University where she graduated (1985) cum laude in Sociology. She then attended Harvard Law and received a Juris Doctor in 1988.
Michelle Obama first met Barack when she was assigned to mentor him at the law firm that they both worked. Their first date was to the Spike Lee film "Do the Right Thing". They were married in October 1992.
